Investiture Ceremony

On June 7th, a well-organized School Cabinet election was held to select the new student representatives, supervised by a dedicated election committee. The committee was led by Chief Election Commissioner Teacher Mrs. Sandhya Vikas, with Election Commissioners Nagaratna and Sarita Kotian, Poll Officials Saumya G and Sowmya K, Booth Incharge Ganesh, ink applicator Mangala, and Returning Officer Deepthi. The election process commenced with the announcement of eligibility criteria on May 28th, followed by the distribution and return of nomination forms on May 29th and 30th, respectively. Campaigning took place from June 3rd to 5th, allowing candidates to present their platforms and engage with voters.

On Election Day, students from class VI to X participated enthusiastically, with a high voter turnout reflecting the importance of the event. The polling station was efficiently managed, ensuring a smooth voting process. The candidates for Head Boy were Yashdeep Prasanna, Hardit P C, and Shaman Amin, with Shaman Amin emerging victorious. For the position of Head Girl, Shreya K Iyer, Disha Naveen, and Anshu Y Shetty contested, and Shreya K Iyer won. All candidates were from Grade X. The counting of votes was conducted transparently, and the results were declared on June 10th. The election not only demonstrated the students’ commitment to democratic values and leadership but also fostered a spirit of healthy competition among the participants. The newly elected Head Boy, Shaman Amin, and Head Girl, Shreya K Iyer, expressed their gratitude to their peers and to the entire faculty.

Following the successful elections, the Investiture Ceremony was held with great enthusiasm and solemnity on June 26, 2024, marking the formal conferral of roles and responsibilities to our newly elected student leaders. The event commenced with the cabinet ministers taking their seats, accompanied by melodious music, followed by a heartfelt prayer led by the students, emphasizing the importance of spirituality and gratitude. A mesmerizing welcome dance then set a warm tone for the occasion. The esteemed guests were escorted to the dais, and Sanika delivered an eloquent welcome speech. The ceremonial lighting of the lamp, symbolizing the dispelling of darkness was performed by the dignitaries.

Ahana introduced the Guests of Honor, Mr. Dhanya Kumar, School Student Welfare Officer at SDME Ujjire, and Mr. M. J. Mathew, Regional Head of The Hindu Group. Mr. Dhanya Kumar addressed the gathering, urging the newly invested leaders to perform their duties with diligence and emphasizing that the opposition should not only oppose but also collaborate in decision-making to maintain a healthy relationship. The felicitation ceremony recognized the outstanding achievements of Grade X students who scored above 90%, as well as the remarkable talents of Rishika, Arush, and Aisiri in the performing arts. The ceremony included the bestowing of badges on the cabinet ministers, and the Head Boy and Head Girl took their oaths of office. Mr. Mathew conferred badges to house captains and class prefects (Class I to IV), while the Correspondent conferred badges to class prefects (V to X).

Mr. M. J. Mathew, our Guest of Honor, delivered an inspiring address on leadership qualities, highlighting the importance of vision, exploring uncharted paths, managing success and failure, and the ability to make decisive decisions. The ceremony also included the inauguration of various clubs, with the Principal and Academic Coordinator presenting books to the club presidents and secretaries. The cabinet ministers took their oaths, and the Head Boy and Head Girl expressed their gratitude and outlined their vision and goals for the coming year. The Principal delivered the presidential address, followed by a heartfelt vote of thanks. The ceremony concluded with the National Anthem, leaving a lasting impression on all present and celebrating the spirit of leadership and responsibility among the students of SDM.
