Sahityotsav 2024

Sahityotsav 2024, hosted at SDM School on August 10th, proved to be a vibrant and exhilarating showcase of literary talent. The event, which drew participation from 39 CBSE and ICSE schools, kicked off with a grand inaugural function at 9:00 AM. Dr. Geetha Shashidhar Kotian, the esteemed Principal of Anandathirtha Vidyalaya, Udupi, set the tone for the day with her inspiring address, highlighting the importance of nurturing young literary talent.
The day’s activities were a whirlwind of creative and intellectual challenges, with students showcasing their exceptional skills across a range of events. In the Junior Category, participants engaged in events like Comic Arena, Kavisambrama, and Varg Paheli, among others. The competition was fierce, but Alvas Central School emerged as the overall champion, with Vidyadayinee English Medium School, Surathkal, securing the runner-up position.
The Senior Category saw an equally impressive display of talent, with students participating in Turn Coat, Dual Role, and Nukkad Natak, among others. The competition culminated in a thrilling conclusion, with SDM School, Mangaluru, clinching the overall championship, while SDM English Medium School, Ujire, was named the runner-up.
As the sun began to set, the event transitioned into the valedictory ceremony at 5:45 PM. Ian Thomas, CEO and Executive Head Teacher of Multi Academy Trust, England and Dr. Hima Urmila Shetty, retired professor and trustee of M. V. Shetty Institutions, delivered thought-provoking speeches that celebrated the students’ achievements and encouraged their continued pursuit of literary excellence.
The event was a testament to the hard work and dedication of everyone involved. Special thanks go to Correspondent Ms. Shrutha Jithesh, Principal Ms. Joy Jeevan Rai, and Academic Coordinator Ms. Usha Hegde for their support throughout the day. The Hindu, our media partner, played a crucial role in capturing and promoting the event’s highlights, ensuring that the literary brilliance of our participants received the recognition it deserved.
