KARAVALI KARNIVAL: CELEBRATING CULTURAL UNITY AND DIVERSITY

The much-anticipated Karavali Karnival unfolded in all its magnificence on Saturday, January 11, at SDM School, Ashoknagar, under the auspices of Karavali Sahodaya and hosted by SDM School, Mangaluru. Under the banner “Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat,” this grand celebration themed “KARAVALI KARNIVAL” spotlighted the rich cultural heritage of Karnataka and Ladakh, epitomizing unity in diversity.
The inaugural ceremony was privileged by the presence of Professor Mathew C. Ninan, Director of Little Rock Indian School, Brahmavar, as the Chief Guest. His inspiring address commended the meticulous organization of the event and the creative efforts of the students, saying, “The artistic representations and cultural exhibits demonstrate the immense talent and dedication of our young minds. Events like these are the cornerstone of holistic education.”
The ceremony began with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp and the unboxing of the string of letters Karavali Karnival. Mrs. Firoza Fayaz, Principal of Prestige International School and Secretary of Karavali Sahodaya, welcomed the gathering and remarked, “This Karnival is not just an event but a celebration of our shared heritage and creativity.”
Students of SDM School — Sadhvi, Anjali, Anvi, and Anupallavi — set the stage by eloquently explaining the objectives of the CBSE art-integrated program, emphasizing the importance of cultural exchange and integration through education.

• Mr. Joy Jeevan Rai, Principal, SDM School.
• Mr. John Thomas, Principal of Little Rock Indian School and President of Karavali Sahodaya.
• Mrs. Firoza Fayaz, Principal of Prestige International School.
• Mrs. Surekha R. Bhat, Principal of Canara School and Joint Secretary of Karavali Sahodaya.
• Mrs. Jessy Andrews, Treasurer of Karavali Sahodaya.
The event witnessed participation from over 25 schools across Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts, with around 20 visiting schools joining to observe the exhibits and cultural programs. Schools showcased impressive displays representing the food, games, art, culture, history, and traditions of Karnataka and Ladakh. The event also featured captivating cultural performances by students from eight schools, leaving the audience spellbound and enthralled.
The valedictory ceremony commenced with Mr. John Thomas welcoming Mr. Ramesh Menon, Regional Officer of CBSE, Bengaluru, who was the Chief Guest for the day, commended the schools for their exceptional exhibits, saying, “This event not only nurtures creativity but also fosters a
deep understanding of our nation’s cultural diversity. Such initiatives enrich the learning experience and instill pride in our roots.”
During the presidential address Mrs. Joy Jeevan Rai, Principal of SDM School, encouraged students with her powerful words, “The values of respecting elders and loving our nation should be cultivated from an early age, for these are the bedrock of a harmonious community.
All participating schools were honoured with mementos in recognition of their efforts. The program was seamlessly hosted by teachers Mrs. Jane, Mrs. Soumya K, who added charm and elegance to the proceedings.
Mrs Asha Priya and Mrs. Margaret expressed gratitude to all dignitaries, schools, and participants for their invaluable contributions to making Karavali Karnival a resounding success.
This remarkable celebration of culture and creativity, left an indelible mark on all present, reaffirming the ethos of “Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat”.
