The Annual sports day for grades 4-10 of Shri Dharmasthala Manjunatheshwara School, Ashoknagar, was held on Tuesday, December 10, at Mangala Stadium, Mannagudda. The inauguration ceremony was graced by the chief guest, Dr. Narendra Shetty, Chief Health Officer of SDM Kshemavana, Bengaluru. The event commenced with a prayer by the students, followed by a march-past by five teams and the hoisting of the flag. The school principal, Mrs. Joy Jeevan Rai, delivered the welcome address, emphasizing the importance of sports and their role in promoting healthy development among students. The inauguration was made unique by bringing the torch via a drone and lighting the sports flame by the athletic champions, as per tradition. The Deputy Sports Minister, Sanvi Shetty, took the sports pledge. Chief guest Dr. Narendra Shetty explained how sports contribute to mental well-being and extended his best wishes to the students. Mrs. Usha Hegde, the Academic Coordinator, proposed the vote of thanks. The event featured impressive sports drills by the students. Competitions were also organized for parents, teachers, and non-teaching staff. During the closing ceremony, the school correspondent, Mrs. Shrutha Jitesh, presented prizes to the winners and awarded the championship trophy to the Amethyst team. A moment of silence was observed to mourn the demise of former Chief Minister S.M. Krishna. Teachers Mrs. Margaret and Arunita served as the masters of ceremonies for the event.
